The land between

I recently read a book called The Land between. This author of this book used his personal experiences to illustrate how hard times are opportunities for growth. They are also opportunities to grow bitterness, resentment, and times where you can lose faith.

Strangely this book seemed to really compliment the other book I read (1000 gifts). The Land between is the time after the Jews left Egypt but hadn't enetered Israel. A time of trials, grumbling and complaining. These guys weren't saying "thank God for the manna that is giving us sustenance" they were saying..."yeah God is giving us this food...but I want meat too this sucks". Count your blessings people!

The author also uses Joseph as a great example. This kid goes from being a favorite son to a slave. Does he bitch and moan about He works hard, continues to do his best and to have faith. He could easily have decided to be bitter, lazy, and unhappy - but he didn't.

I am digressing a tad...but everyone enters this land between at some point in their life. It is perspective that defines that time of your life...whether it is a time where you build character, personal strength and increase your faith or does it become a time where you lose faith and build bitterness, resentment and more unhappiness?

Good Book.

I really enjoyed this book

1000 gifts

It has been a long time since I have posted anything...I have been really busy. instead of spending time online I have been reading books....a novel idea I know (no pun intended!)

I recently read a book by Ann Vokscamp called 1000 gifts. It started out slow...lots of flowery verbose imagery....which I kind of find is just not my thing to read a 2 paragraph description on her moms uterus ejecting her into the world. However, the narrative is really her personal journey to peace with God when bad things happen. it is a reminder that there are so many things to be grateful for and joy and happiness can be found in your life if you take the time to remind yourself of all the gifts in your life.

it is human nature to be grumpy and complaining. It is hard to remind yourself of all the things you have to be grateful is much easier to complain about what broke, about what you didn't get etc.

It certainly has reminded me to take the time to literally count my blessings......try it every morning it will make your day a little more joyous!

Check out this super cutie....

OK...i haven't blogged in a while because I have been super busy. I have a ton of pictures of my cooking adventures in the last couple of weeks and some pictures of the kids...of course I haven't downloaded them because I have to find cables or pluggy in things for my camera. hey it only took me like 3 months to download Christmas pictures! haha

Anyway, I am writing a quick post tonight because I am sitting at the computer waiting for Keith to finish looking over his free annual credit romantic. I was doing a long overdue blogstalk of all my favorite adoption blogs and I ran across a post of the absolute cutest, most adorable, waiting 3 year old in China.

Check This Post Out

If we weren't pregnant, if we had been married at least 5 years (that won't be until August, 2012) then I might be working Kieth right now! haha! But he is soooooo adorable and just reminds me of my kids in his little robot shirt. Seriously, go see how adorable this little guy is and link to your friends who have a heart for adoption.
